How to Know when you should Redesign your Space
Interior Design aims to ease some of the stress and discomfort we can feel in our own homes.
Raise your hand if you can never find anything in your home!
Okay, now raise your hand if you walk into your home and you feel bored with the design!
These are super common things I hear from new clients. They are so uninspired by their home and they can’t even find the things they need when they need them. The home feels like it’s not functional or there are different tasks that just seem to take longer these days. A lot of people don’t realize that these are problems that Interior Design aims to solve. If you are feeling any of the following, you might just need an interior design overhaul:
Your space is cluttered and disorganized.
A cluttered home can actually induce stress and anxiety, not to mention impede your efficiency if you have trouble finding the items you need to use day in and out. An organized home, however, can keep your spirits high and streamline your life, so you are on time wherever you need to be! Be it your bedroom, your kitchen, or your office, if any room in your home is cluttered, it may be time for a room makeover. An interior designer can help you make the most of your existing furniture and decor pieces and find the right storage pieces for your needs.
Your space lacks balance or is too eclectic, or even chaotic.
If you don’t have a design plan from the beginning, it’s easy for things to start to look too “eclectic.” If your personal style has changed over the years, or you’ve inherited hand-me-downs or heirlooms, despite how lovely your furniture and decor may be, it may just be that some pieces simply don’t go together. A redesign is an opportunity to pull together a bunch of different elements and to keep the continuity flowing. An interior designer will help you edit what you have and even find a use for pieces in other rooms in your home.
Your space is visually dated.
When’s the last time your space was updated? Was it long before you can even remember? Or has the design just always been that way? Or even if you have updated a while ago, style isn't eternal. Sometimes, no matter how much money and time you invest in decorating your home (or how few trends you fall for), your interior décor becomes dated, and the look you once loved doesn't work as well. Despite your best efforts, that brightly colored accent wall you painted earlier just isn't looking so fresh anymore, is it? This doesn't mean you have bad taste or that your house is old; it's just that this part of your home is starting to look a little dated.
An interior designer can help you to change that, often the solution is to switch up smaller details and to celebrate the architectural style of your space.
